hi this is Bruce Johnston here today to talk to you about leveraging LinkedIn for success for account acquisition and retention I'm a special business and social media advisor to Delaware Investments and happy to be able to talk to the advisors at Merrill Lynch about LinkedIn and what a tremendous tool it is for you to use to enhance your business in to retain clients I do come from the industry and have 30 years of experience in financial services so I'm very sensitive to the compliance aspects of LinkedIn and how to leverage it and have worked with your compliance Department to make sure that they were going to talk to you about today are things that you can actually do in LinkedIn or within the guidelines of your compliance so what was talked about today is social media in general the importance of internet marketing strategy why you should care about LinkedIn and how can you leverage LinkedIn in your practicing will try to accomplish that in just a short few minutes while we're here together today first of all let's talk about LinkedIn and wide Lincoln is important to you well first of all just buy it sure numbers there are 300 million LinkedIn users out there and statistically they demonstrated that there are two people per second there joining up to LinkedIn what differentiates this audience from the other audiences that are out there on other social media applications such as Facebook Snapchat excetera Wellwood differentiates this audience is that they're here for a purpose in the purpose is to Prospect and to network with you and other professionals such as yourself the other thing about the users is that their fastest growing demographic is the 55 to 65 your age group so it just is telling me is that boomers are embracing LinkedIn and their numbers and pricing LinkedIn not only to communicate with their pierced but they're also using it to start new businesses in leverage it to benefit them from a business you're a hundred million LinkedIn users in the United States so there's a tremendous amount of people right here 49% of that LinkedIn demographic is between 45 and 65 years of age in 40% of these people check into LinkedIn on a daily basis and spend on average about 17 minutes of their time on LinkedIn so social media is a hard one for us in this industry to understand because we're very driven we're also people that are very results-oriented and so social media is a bit looser e for us because there's not really a way to definitively state that somebody's been to your side that they have you looked at an article excetera sure there are certain features out there there certain analytics out there that you can get but specifically were looking for more than that were open up a business using this tool that there are people out there that are honest and open a new business the biggest account that I've heard of the 70 million dollars by an advisor in the New York area that open that up last September I've also heard of a count in the 40 + 20 million range I've also heard of counting to 400,000 range all of it which was based upon people creating a strategy they had a real focus in mine and if you look at the chart in front of you now internet marketing strategy sits right there in the middle so those of you who have a business practice strategy think about converting that over into your internet marketing strategy so that you can take a look at the results from this perspective now what's important in this slide while it's all important but most importantly is complete so your firm is taking the initiative and they have provided for you a service provider that is going to make sure that your social media policy in place if you're looking to the right hand side of the side and that your archive I get a kick out of this because this is no different than email marketing in 20 some years ago when email marketing was introduced how many of you out there said this will never work and my clients will never accept nor use email now it's stuck into a social security number people have not only one but several email ad...
